From the Italian Riviera we moved into the French Riviera and Côte d’Azur — Monte Carlo, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Fréjus and St Tropez. The famous names were everywhere, although the celebrities themselves were less evident.

Cruising outside the marinas

Where possible we kept Malua out of the expensive marinas, anchoring in nearby bays and using the RIB or local buses to reach the towns. This allowed us to see the coast without making the marina itself the destination.

Art and towns

Among the highlights ashore were the Matisse museum in Nice and the Picasso museum at Antibes. By this stage Malua had travelled from Preveza through the Ionian, Sicily and Italy, across to Sardinia and Corsica, then along the Italian and French Rivieras — a substantial westward move during the 2010 season.
