After Montenegro we entered Greece again and spent the final weeks cruising among the islands. The season was drawing to a close and this time Malua would not return all the way to Turkey for the winter.

Preveza

We chose Preveza because of its central Mediterranean location and reasonable cost. On haul-out day the travel lift arrived exactly at eight in the morning and Malua was soon in the slings, then placed securely on a steel cradle.

We removed the outside gear, lines, halyards and sails and prepared her for the northern winter. The 2009 season had begun at Marmaris and taken us through Greece and the Corinth Canal to the Ionian, north to Croatia and Venice, then south through Croatia and Montenegro before returning to Greece. Preveza would be Malua’s base until the 2010 season.
