The great open-water crossing was behind me; ahead lay island cruising through some of the most memorable waters of the circumnavigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On towards the Tuamotu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the Marquesas I continued into the Tuamotu archipelago. The low coral atolls introduced a completely different cruising environment. Safe entry through the passes depended on current, weather and light. Once inside, coral heads and pearl-farm equipment meant that the chart alone was not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tuamotu were not merely a navigational challenge.
